Description

The Ruger SR1911 is Ruger's first foray into the world of 1911-style pistols. It is a full-size, .45 ACP, single-action handgun made from stainless steel, and includes many features commonly found on other modern interpretations of the 1911 pistol. A slightly extended manual safety and slide stop, beavertail grip safety with palm swell, skeletonized trigger and hammer, Novak sights, and oversized ejection port round out the external differences from a standard GI-style 1911A1 pistol.

Ruger chose to use a 'Series 70' firing system with no firing-pin block found on 'Series 80' style 1911's. In order to make the SR1911 drop-safe, a lightweight titanium firing pin and heavy firing pin spring is used.

The slide is CNC machined, and the frame is cast, from stainless steel, and the pistol receives a bead-blasted matte stainless finish. The SR1911's grips are checkered double-diamond hardwood with an inset Ruger crest.

The Ruger SR1911 has an MSRP of $799 and will be available in May 2011. All of the pistol's parts are manufactured in the United States.
